Presentation Mode May Decrease Setup Tool Performance Product:DataManPlatform:All PlatformsFull DescriptionMy DataMan was working fine with the Setup Tool, and then I enabled Presentation trigger mode on the reader. After that, I could no longer connect using the Setup Tool easily (connection took a long time and then timed out, or was never established in the first place).
What should I do to prevent this trouble?SolutionPresentation Mode causes the DataMan units to inspect codes at the maximum possible rate, taking an image as soon as the previous image is finished inspecting. As such, it places high load on the reader all the time. When the reader is heavily loaded, it may have difficulty maintaining communications with the Setup Tool, which are in general a lower priority for the device than inspecting images and maintaining Factory Floor Protocol communications. In general, placing a blank sheet of paper or other object of constant brightness in front of the reader will allow it to connect while in presentation mode if this problem does appear, as this will ensure an image with few areas that warrant inspection for codes. Please use Self Trigger Mode instead. This mode allows you to set an Interval, after which the current image will be abandoned and a new image will be taken. This reduces load on the reader's processor which will most likely alleviate performance problems in the communication channel.
